The other day, my friend and I were reviewing two unique podcast clips she shared on Instagram and TikTok, and what stood out? One of the videos performed really well on IG and the other extremely well on TikTok, yet both had been cross-posted to these platforms.

This example got me thinking about Content as one of the strategic frameworks for building a strong, authentic and trusted brand that attracts the right opportunities.

And today, I’ll share why your brand needs a presence across platforms. So, let’s dive in:

Content: The Third ‘C’ of Personal Branding

The five C’s around personal branding are: Clarity, Consistency, Content, Community and Credibility.

Today, we focus on Content because this is how the world gets to know you, trust you and recommend you.

Content is not just posting for the sake of it. It’s sharing your expertise, stories and lessons in your own voice to inform, inspire, educate, entertain or empower someone else.

So, Why Should Your Content Live Beyond Just One Platform?

Because your brand shouldn’t be limited by one algorithm, one audience type or one app.

Here’s why cross-platform content is powerful:

1. Your audience is everywhere and not just where you are active

Even if LinkedIn is your primary platform, your next client may discover you from a Reel, a Tweet or a podcast snippet. I’ve personally landed clients from Instagram, even though LinkedIn is my central platform.

2. Repetition builds reputation

When people see you consistently on different platforms, talking about what you do, your expertise becomes unforgettable. You become the name that comes to mind.

3. One idea can work many times over

You don’t need new ideas every day. A single message can be repurposed into:

  • A LinkedIn post

  • A short TikTok or Instagram video

  • A carousel

  • A newsletter

  • Even a podcast clip

Smart brands don’t create more, they maximise more.

4. Algorithms change. Your relevance shouldn’t.

Relying on one platform is risky. If your reach drops or your account is restricted, does your brand disappear? A multi-platform presence protects your visibility.

5. Makes you searchable, findable and credible

When someone Googles your name and finds you on LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube or your website, you instantly look established and trustworthy.

So, Where Do You Start?

  • Start with one core message. This will help you to know where to show up. Who you show up for and how to present the valuable information you want to share.

  • Start where you’re strong, then spread out. You don’t need to be everywhere at once. Pick one central platform as your home base and one secondary platform as your expansion.

  • Repurpose content: Turn a written post into a video for your secondary post.

And If You’re Ready for Guidance…

This is the work I do, helping professionals, consultants and leaders:

  • Get clarity on their story

  • Structure their content for different platforms

  • Build a personal brand that attracts the right opportunities.
