Yesterday, someone in my network asked me a fascinating question:
“Stephanie… does LinkedIn actually work for creatives? Can I really use it for visibility or prospecting?”
I knew I couldn’t answer that with a simple text.
So today, let’s talk about platforms and specifically, what LinkedIn can do for you, whether you’re a creative, a professional or a business owner.
My Journey With LinkedIn (and why it matters)
I’ve been active on LinkedIn for almost four years now. Intentionally? Since 2022.
At that time, I had just joined my first workplace. Excited, overwhelmed, learning so much. I kept thinking:
“There must be a place where I can share these lessons…and maybe find others going through the same thing.”
LinkedIn became that platform.
I asked my manager whether it was okay for me to share my experiences and she said, “Go ahead, as long as you’re not representing the company.”
So I started posting: my lessons, my challenges, my small and big wins, my milestones, my marketing insights.
Nothing fancy. Just honest storytelling.
And slowly, something happened. People connected. People related. People reached out.
Then one day, I realized…
I was building a personal brand - without even planning it.
Enquiries started coming in:
“Can you help me with LinkedIn?”
“Can you help me build my personal brand?”
“Can you guide my clarity?”
That’s when I knew: LinkedIn works.
💡 So… does LinkedIn work for creatives? For multi-passionate people? For professionals?
Absolutely! Because at its core, LinkedIn isn’t about being “corporate.”
It’s about:
Sharing your story
Communicating your value
Positioning yourself clearly
Showing up consistently
Building credibility
Creating a community of the right people
LinkedIn works when you work it, with intentionality. And conversion only comes after you consistently fulfil the above, not before.
So, allow me to help you make LinkedIn work for you, too. Your simple assignment for this week:
Before thinking about content, visibility or building influence…
Start by optimizing your LinkedIn profile. It’s the first impression people get of you. Audit it today and ask yourself:
Is my profile clearly showing who I am?
Is it positioning me the way I want to be seen?
Is it speaking to the people I want to attract?
