Back where it all began - judging the next generation of entrepreneurs

I was invited back to my alma mater to sit on the judges' panel at their student business expo. What I witnessed left me genuinely speechless and deeply proud.
These were not "school projects." These were real businesses - apps, agencies, health solutions, food products, jewellery lines. Students solving actual marketplace problems.
I still remember being a student in those same halls, navigating the pressure to study hard, stay in line and figure out "what you want to be." The honest answer? I wasn't building a business at that age. I was just trying to find my footing.
That contrast is what made this day hit differently. The students I sat across from weren't waiting for permission or for the "right time." They were already in motion - pitching, building and solving problems that matter to them and their communities.
I left that room with one clear thought: the future of business in Kenya is not coming. It's already here and the future is bright.
