After a fantastic first day, the second day, Saturday at the Youth+ Africa Festival felt even better!

Back to the Villages! My first stop?

📌Mastering the Art of Hosting & Managing Events with Ian Muiruri

I arrived in time and with 15 minutes before the session began, what did I do?
Photos, of course! I was genuinely excited to meet Ian and capturing the moment was a must.

The session itself? Packed with valuable insights:

✅ Mastering your craft as an MC – Communication skills, presence and confidence matter.
✅ Asking for opportunities – This theme kept coming up (remember Day 1 with Just Ivy?), reinforcing the power of simply asking.
✅ Avoiding the “Me Too” strategy – What makes you stand out? How do you ensure your approach is unique? Your personal touch is your superpower.

📌Then came Village 2 for the day!

Podcasting by Kevin Okeyo

I hadn’t originally planned on attending the Podcasting Village, but something (read Daisy Keter) nudged me in that direction and wow, what a decision!

This session was a goldmine. He challenged us with the question: What’s in your hands? Too often, we wait for the perfect setup before starting. But the truth is, you already have what you need to begin.

Start with what you have. They started podcasting with just a phone and look at where the Mics Are Open Podcast are at now?

In his words, (but sort of paraphrased)

"You’re doing a disservice by sitting on your dreams! Someone out there needs what you have to offer. If you don’t act, you’re depriving them of that impact."

A powerful example? The Youth Plus Festival itself. If Freddrick Mulli had decided not to pursue his vision, none of us would have experienced this transformational event.

And lastly.....

Druumrolllllsssss pleaseee!!!
📌The Keynote Session – By Vusi Thembekwayo

Here's what’ll leave you with today from his powerful keynote:

Legacy is intentional. It’s not built overnight; it takes small, consistent steps, courage and willpower.

What’s stopping you? Deal with your demons. Is it Fear of failure? Self-doubt? The idea that you’re not ‘ready’?

To leave a meaningful legacy, you must first confront and overcome these barriers.

And just like that, Youth Plus Festival 2025 came to a close. A weekend of learning, networking and being challenged to step up and take action.

If you missed this year’s event, don’t sleep on the next one, instead show up, engage and take the chance on you. Your future self will thank you for it. 🙌🏾
