Uganda met Kenya in the most intentional and soul-nourishing way at The African Sisters Network event and clearly it seems I was there for the notes and the gems!

The ambience was stunning, flowers blooming, energy high and sisters showing up, not just to be seen, but to connect, grow and pour into one another.

We kicked off with laughter and outfit talk (because of course! we’re just girls).

Do I wear heels or stick to sneakers? Is this the moment for a two-piece or a flowy dress? The kind of light-hearted pre-session banter only a room full of women can understand.

And then the real gems started to drop.

Janet Machuka reminded us that real community building must move beyond self. It’s no longer about how brilliant you are, it’s about how you're empowering, challenging and uplifting others. That’s what real influence looks like. And coming from someone with over 200k followers on X? You listen. You take notes.

CHRP Grace Mathu's session on personal branding, clarity and purpose hit differently. She asked a question that’s still on my mind, “What perception do people have about you?”
Are you building a brand that’s clear, consistent and purposeful, or is it vague and cluttered? If you can’t describe what you do in one sentence or word, you might need to pause and refine.

And lastly, the woman of the hour,

Victoria Nyanzi, MCIPR, DipCIPR the vision bearer behind TASN.

Can I first admit how sitting right next to her was such a full-circle moment? Ah! I loved it. You can bet I grabbed the chance just to get some free coaching sessions in the name of ‘Victoria, I have a question’ 🤣

Victoria's story is one I’ve followed for the last 2 years. To finally sit in a room with her, hearing her unpack how she has used her voice, story and visibility to impact others and build this community, was powerful. She reminded us to be both searchable and findable. Her work and this event? It screamed excellence.

Every detail was intentional. Every story shared added value.

This was a masterclass in sisterhood, strategy and showing up.

I left feeling sharpened, seen and deeply inspired.

And to the organising team?Lulu Rasugu, you did that! Congratulations on pulling off such a transformative experience. Truly, the standard is high.

Let’s go out there and:
✔ Be searchable
✔ Be clear on our brand
✔ Build communities beyond ourselves

If you’re serious about growth, connection and clarity, these are the kinds of rooms you need to be in.
