I had the incredible honour of moderating a powerful panel at the LinkedIn Local Nairobi event hosted at Capital Club East Africa.

The session brought together brilliant voices: Mwau Brian, Hinn Walubengo and Odour Jagero, who moved us with their courage, stories and lived experiences.

As the panel moderator, my role went beyond holding the mic to:

• Designing intentional questions that guided the flow of conversation.

• Managing time gracefully, ensuring each panelist had room to share deeply.

• Steering the discussion so that we stayed true to the theme: “Smart Intros, Bold Invitations & Graceful Follow-Ups.”

• Engaging both the panelists and the audience, creating an atmosphere where learning and inspiration could thrive.

The panelists brought such depth and authenticity that the room remained glued long after the official time was up. It was rewarding to see the audience walk away feeling enriched, a clear sign that the session delivered immense value.

What excites me most about moderating is the preparation: researching panelists, understanding their journeys and crafting questions that bring out their best stories. On stage, it’s about listening actively, creating flow and ensuring the audience connects with the conversation.

This experience reaffirmed why I love moderating: the blend of planning, storytelling and live engagement that makes an event memorable.
