At the Creative Industries Program Creatorthon by FCA Creators Hub, I had the privilege of mentoring and reviewing digital marketing portfolios from students who had just completed their 3-month course. The event was designed to showcase creative talent, facilitate networking and provide constructive feedback and mentorship and it delivered on every front. What stood out to me most was the initiative of participants who, even without prior client work, built full dummy brands and campaigns to demonstrate their skills. Their creativity, courage and readiness to create opportunities for themselves reminded me of the importance of being prepared to showcase your work at any time. I engaged with participants by sharing feedback, offering guidance and encouraging them to refine their portfolios and strategies for greater impact. Beyond mentoring, I left inspired by their drive and reminded that growth often comes from starting with what you have.
